MID WINTER BREAK CAMP 2/17/26-2/20/26 AGES 3 to 10

Camp Theme: Arctic Adventure
During mid-winter break, children will explore the wonders of the Arctic through hands-on experiences that integrate science, creativity, STEM, and practical life work. Campers will experiment with ice and melting, make predictions and observations, and engage in winter-inspired art and purposeful projects.

Children will also take part in simple engineering challenges, such as designing and building bridges for polar animals to cross, encouraging planning, testing, and collaboration.

Culinary work is an important part of the week, including a Presidents’ Day themed culinary project featuring red, white, and blue elements. This real-world experience supports independence, sequencing, fine motor development, and care of self and environment.

Alongside journaling, seasonal books, creative projects like painting on “ice” and crafting winter trees, and preparing warm treats such as hot cocoa, the week nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and creative expression while honoring Montessori principles of purposeful work and experiential learning.

Daily polar animal–inspired gross motor activities take place on our playground and in our two indoor gym spaces, which are considered extensions of the classroom. These environments support intentional movement through structured games, obstacle courses, partner activities, and cooperative challenges, helping children build coordination, strength, teamwork, and self-regulation in a purposeful, age-appropriate way.

Who Can Join?
Our camps are open to both currently enrolled students and children from other schools between the ages of 3.5 and 10 years old.

Sample School Break Camp Curriculum

Sports/Games

Following the lessons provided by Ilchi Lee in the book “Power Brain Kids,” students will learn strategies to strengthen both their minds and bodies: physical strength, brain awareness, relaxation exercises, and body/brain working together.

Creative Arts

Students will get a closer look at five famous artists’ work. Each day a new artist will be showcased with information about him and examples of his artwork. Students will be given the opportunity to create their own piece of art drawing inspiration from: Van Gogh, Picasso, Matisse, Monet and Keith Haring.

Music/Drama

Children will explore Eurythmics and dance according to set rhythms. This encourages a grounded sense of grace and sets the stage for formal music lessons. Understanding the fundamentals of musicianship, students will play instruments, recognize different tones, discover soft and loud dynamics and respond to conductor cues.

Culinary/Kid’s Kitchen

Gardening & Breads from Around the World. Kids will have the opportunity to garden using large container pots, and recognize the importance of building healthy soil, planting techniques, organic fertilizers, and watering. Making bread with family and friends is a long tradition in every culture. Children will discover different types of breads such as: roti (flat bread), chapati, rotlo, challa, pretzels, cinnamon swirl, ciabatta, soda bread, and whole grain bread.
